Discovery and Space Adventures. What's Out There? #SciFi #FREE

My first memories of television are Lost in Space, Space Ghost, and the Jetsons. A few years later came the Moon landing. I was only five, but the Moon landing blew me away. "Wow," is what I still think. To have the perspective of before and after is a gift.

It spawned the space age and a fascination for what lies beyond our planet. Then there was Star Trek, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Tang. I grew up thinking that Earth was no longer the limit, a very special time.

Then came along Babylon 5, Farscape, and Stargate. And I can't wait for the next Guardians of the Galaxy.

I want to know what's out there, and these shows and stories give us glimpses. Because if we can imagine it, it exists. It's already been proven with diamond planets and super Earths.

We are fortunate to live in an age of vast discovery that gives us glimpses of worlds beyond our own. Discovery is the part of any story that interests me the most. Take me to a new world. Introduce me to new people. Whether it's learning about a different culture or point of view on Earth or on another world, a different time, or a world yet unseen by human eyes, I can't resist the lure of discovery. It calls to be like a beacon.

What do you love to discover?

  2. I've already picked up my copy. And I wish we had Stargates. They don't even have to connect to different planets. I wouldn't mind such a portal to other places on this world. :)

  3. When I was a kid I assumed by now we would all be riding around in flying cars and living in the sky like The Jetsons. I loved that show and will now probably have the theme song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. :D
This really is an amazing set. Off to pick up my copy now.

  4. Haha! I remember Lost in Space and Jetsons. I grew up on that stuff too. "Danger, Will Robinson!" LOL. Nice free collection you've got here. I'll go download it.

  5. What a great collection and for free! I will most certainly look into this:) Funny...I was 5 as well when they landed on the moon. All I remember is my brother turning the station from Bugs Bunny. I was so upset because I wanted my Bugs Bunny! He was trying to convince me how major this event was but I just said "I don't care I want my Bugs Bunny!" I loved Lost in Space, Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, Star Trek, Blake 7 and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I am not a watcher of space and science shows actually. I do believe we are not alone and think it silly if anyone does believe this. I love mysteries of the unknown and archeology.

    1. I love archeology, too. I seem to enjoy anything not of this time. :)

  6. I love those old sci-fi shows, and yes, I'm excited for the next Guardians too! I'm fascinated by all sorts of things. The supernatural is one of the top ones. And who knows, maybe one day, the things we consider paranormal might be normal to us. :)

  8. What a Fantastic Offer. And the memories of this lifetime SciFi fan replays yet again! Tons of interesting and even a few GOOD movies have had a huge influence on my own writing. Here's one - Outland starring Sean Connery. Mining the moons of the Solar system can be dangerous, but the danger humankind carries with it can be even more daunting! What's OUT there is exciting, but there's still a lot of stuff IN there, too. I've downloaded the set (even though I already own a couple of them!).

  9. My first space encounters: Marvin the Martian, Lost in Space, The Jetsons. I was a late blooming Trekkie. I used to laugh at my parents for not answering the phone when Star Trek was on. But on day I watched an episode of Deep Space 9/and got hooked. I've now watched almost every episode of every series and all the movies. I also just adored Farscape. And Battlestar Galactica. And Earth Final Conflict. God I could go on and on. I just love sci fi period! I've read at least three of the stories in this set already but I think I'll get it anyway. Can always read a great book twice! Especially Backworlds!

  11. Hi Mary - I'd like to think we'll find out .. but I suspect it's future generations who will benefit from future knowledge. I now love history and archaeology, and ancient times .. all linking together ... the whole is a big old chaotic mix - carefully arranged over time. What we can't do now - we may well be able to do in a few decades or centuries ... I'd love to be around ... but don't think I will be! Cheers Hilary

  12. Life is one big discovery adventure and with technology advancing at the speed of light it's almost impossible to keep up. I love to wake up every morning, knowing I'll find something new in my world, so discovery of anything is always exciting for me.

Great offer you guys have cooked up.
